John Pentland

John Pentland ( born December 24, 1946) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Pentland has over 30 years of a Labour Member since 1997 Board member of North Lanarkshire. In the Scottish Parliament elections in 2003 Pentland held the first position on the regional election list of polling Region Central Scotland. Since the Labour Party could send on the basis of election results, in which the Labour candidates received direct mandates alone nine of the ten constituencies in the region, no list of candidates, Pentland missed to enter parliament. The same was true in the general elections of 2007. Having the former First Minister Jack McConnell did not campaign for the constituency of Motherwell and Wishaw, Pentland stepped up to the 2011 parliamentary elections there and won the mandate just before the candidate SNP.
