John Sadri

John Sadri ( born September 19, 1956 in Charlotte, North Carolina ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Life

Sadri visited 1977-1978 North Carolina State University and was selected in the Best selection All-American twice. In the individual competition of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in 1978 he reached the final, which he lost to John McEnroe. Throughout his career he was two singles and two doubles titles on the ATP Tour win. He also was in four other individual finals and seven doubles finals. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1980 with position 14 in the singles and 1982 with position 16 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was in the finals at the Australian Open 1978. After victories including against the local heroes Peter Doohan and Kim Warwick he met in the finals to the defending champion Guillermo Vilas, where he was defeated in three sets. In 1984, he struggled in the second round of Wimbledon Vitas Gerulaitis in five sets down and defeated in the quarterfinals to the eventual tournament winner John McEnroe. In the doubles competition, he reached for two consecutive years the final of the Australian Open, in 1981 with Hank Pfister and in 1982 with Andy Andrews. In addition, he was in 1979 with Tim Wilkison in the semifinals of Wimbledon and 1983 with Andy Andrews in the semifinals of the U.S. Open.
