John Swihart

John C. Swihart (born 1964 ) is an American composer.

Biography

John Swihart is the son of the physicist James C. Swihart, a professor emeritus at Indiana University. He grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, as well as during a vacation research his father in Europe and Asia. At the age of eight years, Swihart was interested in music and later studied at the Berklee College of Music. He then played for the Blue Man Group in several cities, including Boston, New York City and Las Vegas.

Although Swihart worked as a film composer since 2002, it was the independent film Napoleon Dynamite, which helped him to break through. Swihart was awarded in 2004 to a Satellite Award for Best Film Music. Since then, he shows himself as How I Met Your Mother and Greek responsible for the music of films like I Love You Phillip Morris and Youth in Revolt, and television series.
