John T. McNicholas

John Timothy McNicholas OP (born 15 December 1877 in Kilmaugh, Ireland, † April 22, 1950 ) was Archbishop of Cincinnati.

Life

John Timothy McNicholas joined the Congregation of the Dominicans and received on 10 October 1901, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

18 July 1918, he was named Pope Benedict XV. Bishop of Duluth. The Apostolic Administrator of Genoa, Tommaso Pio Cardinal Boggiani OP, donated to him on 8 September of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the secretary of the Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, Curia Archbishop Bonaventura Cerretti, and the retired secretary of the Congregation of the Index, Curia Bishop Hermann Joseph Thomas Esser OP. The inauguration took place on 15 November 1918.

On July 8, 1925, he was named by Pope Pius XI. Archbishop of Cincinnati.
