John Tait (athlete)

John Tait ( John Lindsay "Jack" Tait, born September 25, 1888 in Toronto, † July 10, 1971 ) was a Canadian middle and long distance runners.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1908, he was more than 1500 m in fourth. About five miles he left in the run, and in the marathon he did not reach the goal.

In 1911 he won the mile run of the Festival of the Empire, a precursor of the Commonwealth Games.

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he reached the semifinals over 800 m. Over 1500 m, he failed in the first round, in the marathon, he gave up again. In the 4 x 400 - meter relay team, he was part of the Canadian team, which was eliminated in the flow.

In the mile run 1907 he became a Canadian Champion and 1909 Canadian runner-up behind the Americans Abel Kiviat.
