John Truscott

John Edward Truscott AO ( born February 23, 1936 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; † September 5, 1993 ) was an Australian actor, costume and set designers, who at the Academy Awards in 1968 for the film Camelot - At the court of King Arthur (1967 won ) both the Academy Award for Best Costume Design and an Academy Award for best Production Design.

Life

Truscott was known for his immense talent as a costume and set designers, but also for the enormous cost of his designs known, so he attended the scene and costume outfit participated only in two films: For the musical film Camelot - On King Arthur's court by Joshua Logan with Richard Harris, Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero in the lead roles, he won his one Academy Award for Best Costume Design, and on the other with Edward Carrere and John Brown the Oscar for best Production Design. The second film on which he collaborated as a costume and set designers was the Western musical Paint Your Wagon (1969 ), also directed by Joshua Logan with Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood and Jean Seberg.

The mid-1970s he began to work as an actor, had, however, with only five films and television series: Victorian Scandals ( 1976 TV series), I, Claudius ( 1976 TV series), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977 ) Play For Today (1977 ) and Taxandria (1994).

For his contribution to the arts, particularly in the field of theater and film designs, he was appointed on the occasion of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II in 1985 an Officer of the Order of Australia.
