John W. Lawrence

John Watson Lawrence ( * August 1800 in Flushing, New York, † December 20, 1888 ) was an American politician. From 1845 to 1847 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Watson Lawrence was born in the beginning of the 19th century in Flushing and grew up there. He attended local schools and then worked as a clerk ( mercantile clerk ) operates. Between 1835 and 1845 he was president of the village of Flushing. In the years 1840 and 1841 he sat in the New York State Assembly. He went in depth according to banking transactions. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1844 Lawrence was the first electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Selah B. Strong on March 4, 1845. Since he resigned in 1846 to run again, he retired after March 3, 1847 from the Congress. Lawrence also rejected a Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor of New York. He then went his banking transactions by again. Between 1860 and 1875 he served as a Trustee of the village of Flushing. He died there on December 20 in 1888 and was then buried in the Flushing Cemetery.
