Join the Army is the second studio album by the American band Suicidal Tendencies. It was released in June 1987, Caroline Records. It is considered one of the most famous crossover albums between hardcore and thrash metal and as a genre classic. Possessed to Skate was also an anthem of the skate punk.

Formation and style

It took four years from the debut Suicidal Tendencies until the next album release, as it is the band due to their reputation had a hard time to find a label - so they had about in Los Angeles banned from performing. Finally, Suicidal Tendencies were signed to Caroline Records. From the original line-up Mike Muir and bassist Louiche Mayorga were only remained, who wrote most of the songs on Join the Army. Participated on the album, influenced by guitarist Rocky George, in comparison to debut the Metal elements, which some hardcore fans were quenched. The course towards metal was continued with the following albums until the early 1990s. The album reached # 100 on the Billboard 200

Reception

Eduardo Rivadavia of Allmusic described the album as a "transitional album" from the hardcore to the Thrash Metal. Except for a few good moments like Possessed to Skate and War Inside My Head album was poorly written, poorly played and terribly produced. He missed three out of five stars. The magazine Rock Hard in 2009 recorded the album in its list of " 250 thrash metal albums that you should know " on.
