Jolanta Szymanek-Deresz

Jolanta Szymanek - Deresz ( born July 12, 1954 in Przedbórz; † 10 April 2010 Smolensk ) was a Polish politician, lawyer, Member of the Sejm in the V. and VI. Legislature and former head of the law firm president Aleksander Kwasniewski.

Life

Szymanek - Deresz came from a family of lawyers, her father Tadeusz Szymanek was a judge at Sąd Najwyższy (Supreme Court ) and Chairman of the Chamber of Labour and Social Security Law at the Supreme Court. First, she studied at the University of Łódź, but she changed after two years at the University of Warsaw. In 1977, she earned a degree at the Faculty of Law and Administration at Warsaw University. After the judge - clerkship, she worked as a judge at the Sąd Rejonowy ( Landgericht ) in Warsaw. 1987 put Szymanek - Deresz from the right bar exam and began working in a law firm. Since the year 1979 she was one of the Polska Zjednoczona partia Robotnicza ( Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR ) to.

Am. January 3, 2000 was Szymanek - Deresz Undersecretary of State in the President of the Republic on June 13, she became head of that authority. On December 23, 2000, she was re-appointed to this function, which she held until October 18, 2005. In the 2005 parliamentary elections, she was elected for the first time as MP for the constituency of Płock on the list of the SLD in the Sejm. In the 2007 elections it was with 20,536 votes for the second time members of parliament, this time on the list of Lewica i Demokraci ( Left and Democrats - LiD ). Szymanek - Deresz was Deputy Chairman of the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee, and a member of the Commission for Constitutional responsibility. From 22 April 2008, she was a member of the newly formed group Lewica. On 1 June 2008, she was elected Vice- Chairman of the SLD.

On April 10, 2010 Szymanek - Deresz belonged to a Polish delegation headed by President Lech Kaczyński, who was to travel on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the Katyn massacre to the memorial to Russia. However, in a plane crash of the delegation near the military airfield Smolensk - North they came together with other high-ranking representatives of Poland died.

Posthumously awarded Szymanek - Deresz on 16 April 2010 the Commander's Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta ( Krzyż Komandorski z Gwiazda Orderu Odrodzenia Polski ).
