Jon Ludvig Hammer

Jon Ludvig Nilssen Hammer ( born June 2, 1990 in Bergen) is a Norwegian chess player.

He was FIDE Master, 2007 International Champion 2005. Since 2009, he is wearing the tenth Norwegian chess grandmaster title. His current and previous highest Elo rating is 2647 (as of November 2010 to January 2011 ), that he is number 2 of the Norwegian Elo ranking, well behind Magnus Carlsen, but before Simen Agdestein from which Jon Ludvig Hammer is trained.

He played for the Norwegian national team at the Chess Olympiad 2008 in Dresden on the first reserve board and was with 6 points over 10 games a positive result. He also participated in two European team championships. During the 2007 and 2009 European Team Championships 2009 in Novi Sad he had represented on top board Magnus Carlsen, who renounced his participation. With 6.5 points from 9 games and an Elo performance of 2792, he reached the third best result of all the players on the first board. He defeated among others Pawel Eljanow and Andrei Istrăţescu. Chess club he plays for the Oslo Schakselskap, with whom he also took part in the European Club Cup 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. In the season 2011/2012 he played in the chess Bundesliga for Werder Bremen and scored 5 points out of 7 games ( 3 = 4 -0 ).

In 2013 he won in Lillehammer - in the absence of Magnus Carlsen - with 7 points from 9 games ( 5 = 4 -0 ) for the first time the Norwegian national championship.
