Jon Oliva's Pain

Jon Oliva 's Pain is the solo project of Savatage, Jon Oliva founding member.

The music of Jon Oliva 's Pain is strongly related to the previous publications of Savatage. Stylistically, however, the band is a little more freely, it also found other items collection, not the least of which John Lennon stated by Oliva as the largest influence.

Band History

Between the last Savatage publication Poets & Madmen of the 2001 and the 2003 Tour of the Trans Siberian Orchestra, on which all members of the band were involved, Jon Oliva took the time to take a solo project off the ground. The material formed to songs that did not fit either stylistically or Savatage on their publications simply no longer came.

The memorial concert held in 2003 to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Olivas brother and Savatage guitarist Christopher " Criss " Oliva was the setting for a first performance of Jon's solo material. He was supported by the musicians of the band Circle II Circle, which also played at the concert and represented the band of former Savatage singer Zak Stevens.

After Zak Stevens undertook a complete change of the line-ups of Circle II Circle, Jon had a stroke a full band for his project. In this cast the first publication entitled days Mahal was tackled. This name had originally Criss Oliva provided for his solo project, which he could not realize his premature death in 1993.

2006 saw the second album, Maniacal Renderings, the stronger sounds like Savatage compared to the debut album. Jon used to this some ideas of his brother Criss, whom he had recently re- discovered by its own account on old tapes. Meanwhile, the members of the band with Shane French was extended by a second guitarist.

Global Warning, the name of the third album, was released in March 2008.

On April 20, 2011, Mitch Stewart ( bassist of the band Circle II Circle ) via Facebook that Matt LaPorte died for unknown reasons.
