Jonas Kullhammar

Kullhammar Jonas ( born September 2, 1978 in Nacka ) is a Swedish jazz saxophonist and composer.

Life and work

Kullhammar is considered one of the most promising young Swedish jazz musicians. He plays with his own groups, such as the Jonas Kulhammar quartet (since 1998, with drummer Jonas Holgersson, bassist Torbjörn Zetterberg and pianist Torbjörn Gulz ) Kullrusk (formed in 2004, with saxophonist Per Johansson ), Nacka Forum ( with trumpeter Goran Jajfes ). Since 2000 he has released albums under his own name with his own record label Moserobie. The first album Salut won the Jazz Cat of the Swedish radio as the best newcomer of the year. He has also played with jazz musicians and groups such as The "International" Noise Conspiracy, Carlos Garnett, Fredrik Norén band Torbjörn Zetterberg Hot Five, Sonic Mechatronics Arkestra, Peanuts Hucko, The Plan, Nina Ramsby, Marcus Strickland, Eldkvarn. Kullhammar led 2011 at the German Jazz Festival in Frankfurt, John Coltrane's A Love Supreme work under the title " A Love Supreme Reloaded " along with his Quartet on.

Prizes and awards

In 2004 he received the Django d' Or ( Sweden) as Contemporary Star of Jazz. In 2006 he received donated by Arne Domnérus Guldsaxen. Twice he received the Jazz Cat as Sweden's Jazz Musician of the Year.
