Jonathan Filewich

Jonathan File Wich ( born October 2, 1984 in Kelowna, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with the KHL Medvescak Zagreb in the Austrian Hockey League since 2010.

Career

Jonathan Filewich began his career as a hockey player in Canadian junior Western Hockey League in which he was active for the Prince George Cougars and Lethbridge Hurricanes 2000-2005. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 in the third round than a total of 70 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins. In three years in the franchise Pittsburg, he completed during the 2007/ 08 season five games in the National Hockey League and spent the rest of the time in the farm team of the American Hockey League, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. With the farm team of the Filewich failed in 2008 in the finals to the Calder Cup to the Chicago Wolves.

After Filewich had started the 2008/09 season in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he was discharged on 19 December 2008 in exchange for a sixth- round option for the NHL Entry Draft 2010 to the St. Louis Blues, came to the end of season but only in their AHL farm team, the Peoria Rivermen, used. For the 2009/10 season the Canadians signed with EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League, before joining the Medvescak Zagreb 2010.

Internationally

For Canada Filewich took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2002, where he finished sixth with his team.
