Jonathan I. Schwartz

Jonathan Ian Schwartz ( born October 20, 1965) is an American manager. He was president and CEO of Sun Microsystems, a computer company that was founded in 1982 by Scott McNealy, Vinod Khosla, Bill Joy, and Andy Bechtolsheim.

Life

Schwartz graduated in 1983 from the Bethesda - Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland. After attending Carnegie Mellon University in 1983/1984 he moved to the Wesleyan University, where he studied economics and mathematics.

His career began in 1987 at McKinsey & Company in New York City. 1989 Schwartz left McKinsey and moved to Chevy Chase, Maryland. There he worked for the software company Lighthouse Design Ltd.. and moved into the 90s with Lighthouse Design in San Mateo, California. There he became CEO of Lighthouse.

1996 Lighthouse was acquired by Sun Microsystems. Schwartz was established in 1997 as director of marketing for the product Sun Java Soft 1997. 2004 increased Schwartz on the Executive Board member and COO of Sun. On 24 April 2006, he took over the position as CEO Scott McNealys. On 4 February 2010 he resigned from this position. His resignation, he announced on Twitter by a haiku.
