Jonny Heykens

Jonny Heykens (* September 24, 1884 in Groningen, † June 28, 1945 in Hilversum ) was a Dutch composer. Best known for his " Serenade " Op 21, which was published for many different occupations. This melody was subsequently by Loriot Sketch " Tastes? " known.

Heykens was a staunch supporter of the Nazis. In the press he praised Adolf Hitler and he proclaimed racist views about Jews and blacks. He died shortly after the war in the prison of Hilversum. Since then, he was no longer recognized in the Netherlands as an important musician and his name disappeared from the scene there.
