Jörg Sievers ( born September 22, 1965 in Römstedt ) is a former German football goalkeeper and current coach. Since 2003 he has been goalkeeper coach of Bundesliga club Hannover 96

Career

Club career

As a goalkeeper he played in the 1988/89 season for VfL Wolfsburg in the Football Oberliga Nord, where he reached the 3rd place. In 1989 he moved to SV Hannover 96, who was descended from the 1st to the 2nd Bundesliga Bundesliga. He played from 1989 to 2003 for Hannover 96 in the Football League North, the 2nd and 1st Bundesliga. For Hanover, he played 384 league games. Previous positions as players were the Lüneburg SK and SV Eddelstorf.

The highlight of his career was winning the DFB Cup in 1992 with the then second division club Hannover 96, where he had as the goalkeeper in a penalty shoot decisive role. He was one of the most consistent players and with Carsten Linke one of the few role models in the rather weak phase of the overall society in the 1990s.
