Jorge Francisco Vargas

Jorge Vargas ( born February 8, 1976 in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean football player, he plays on the position of a defender.

Career

Vargas began his career in his hometown of Santiago at Club Deportivo Universidad Católica. Here he played a total of four seasons before he first joined the 1999/2000 season abroad to Reggina Calcio in the Italian Serie A. In his second season in Reggio Calabria the club was relegated to Serie B, but in the following season and failed to re- ascent. For the season 2003/ 04 Vargas moved to Tuscany to FC Empoli. However, he left Empoli after just one season, to go to the AS Livorno. In Livorno him jump into the starting eleven succeeded right away, where he was able to hold a total of two years. For the season 2006/ 07 he moved to Austria for Red Bull Salzburg. For Chile Vargas played already 38 caps. After several escapades Vargas was adopted by the people of Salzburg and returned 2008 back to Empoli. For the 2009/10 season Vargas moved to AC Spezia Calcio in the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione.

After a drinking session before the quarter- finals of the Copa America 2007 against Brazil ( 1:6 ) Vargas has been blocked by Chilean Football Federation for 20 internationals.

In addition, the Chilean when he and his Serbian teammate Saša Ilić fell in January 2008 to negative, appeared too late to start training the second half of 2008.
