Club career

Amavisca began his career with his hometown club, SD Laredo. In the 1988/89 season he finished with his team Tercera División in the first place. He then moved to Real Valladolid and thus began his professional career. In 1991, he was loaned out for a year at UE Lleida in the second division.

In 1994 he finally moved to Real Madrid and scored in his first season ten goals so that he had a great share in the first championship after four years without a title. In the same year he was elected by two newspapers, awarded by the title, player of the year in Spain.
