Josefov (Sokolov District)

Josefov ( German Josef village) is a village in the Czech Republic. It is located 7 km north- west of Sokolov in 525 m asl right of the river valley of the Svatava ( Zwodau ) and belongs to the Okres Sokolov.

History

The founding of the eponymous town Josefsdorf place in 1833; this is the most recent place of the community.

Built probably in 1196 Herten Castle Mountain ( Hrad Hartenberk ) became the seat of government Hartberg to their owners, among others the Counts of Schlick included. In the 17th century, the rebuilding of the castle situated above the Zwodautal to a castle took place; village of Hartberg was born.

After the abolition of patrimonial regimes in Bohemia to the middle of the 19th century Hartberg and Josef village belonged to the municipality of value. Robesgrün was a separate municipality. The parish church of all places was in Gossengrün.

Since 1972, Josefov was incorporated including its present districts after Krajková. In 1990, it was restored to independence; the new neighborhood Josefov was formed.

Community structure

The municipality comprises the districts Hřebeny ( Hartberg), Josefov ( Joseph village), Luh nad Svatavou ( Werth ) and Radvanov ( Robesgrün ). Basic settlement units are Hřebeny, Josefov I, II Josefov, Luh nad Svatavou and Radvanov.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Luh nad Svatavou and Radvanov.
