Joseph Albert Alexandre Glatigny

Albert Glatigny, actually Joseph -Alexandre -Albert Glatigny, ( born May 21, 1839 in Lille Bonne, Dépt Seine-Maritime, . † April 16, 1873 in Sèvres, Hauts -de -Seine département ) was a French actor and writer.

Glatigny came from a simple family of craftsmen. He completed a printing apprenticeship, but was then for a short time actor. He became familiar with the modern literature through his acquaintance with Théodore de Banville and made ​​friends with some Parnassian.

Funded by Banville, Glatigny himself began to write, and is today also considered one of the Parnassian. Catulle Mendès themed 1906 Glatignys life in a play and brought it to the stage.

About five weeks before his 34th birthday died Glatigny on April 16, 1873 in Sèvres.

Honors

1917 got Glatigny awarded posthumously for his literary oeuvre the " prix de literature" of the Académie française.
