Joseph Bambera

Joseph Charles Bambera ( born March 21, 1956 in Carbondale ) is Bishop of Scranton.

Life

The former bishop of Scranton, Joseph Carroll McCormick, consecrated him on 14 May 1983 deacon and the bishop of Scranton, John Joseph O'Connor, ordained him priest on 5 November 1983.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 23 February 2010 for the Bishop of Scranton. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal Justin Francis Rigali, on 26 April of the same year; Co-consecrators were James Clifford Timlin, Bishop Emeritus of Scranton, and John Martin Dougherty, retired Auxiliary Bishop of Scranton.
