James Clifford Timlin

James Clifford Timlin (* August 5, 1927 in Scranton ) is Bishop Emeritus of Scranton.

Life

The President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications Martin John O'Connor gave him on 16 July 1951, the ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Scranton.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on July 26, 1976 Titular Bishop of Gunugus and auxiliary bishop in Scranton. The Bishop of Scranton, Joseph Carroll McCormick, donated to him on 21 September of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were John Raphael Quinn, Archbishop of Oklahoma City, and Stanley Joseph Ott, Auxiliary Bishop of New Orleans.

On April 24, 1984, he was appointed bishop of Scranton. On 25 July 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
