Joseph Francis Busch

Joseph Francis Busch ( * April 18, 1866 in Red Wing, Minnesota, USA, † May 31, 1953 in St. Cloud) was Bishop of Saint Cloud.

Life

Joseph Francis Busch visited the Canisius College in Buffalo and the Campion College, Prairie du Chien. Busch studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Innsbruck. He received on 28 July 1889, The sacrament of Holy Orders.

Busch was private secretary to Archbishop John Ireland and curate of St. Mary's Church. In 1896 he became pastor of the parish of St. Augustine in Saint Paul.

On April 9, 1910, Pope Pius X appointed Bishop of Lead. The Archbishop of Saint Paul, John Ireland, donated to him on 19 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Duluth, James McGolrick, and the Bishop of Saint Cloud, James Trobec OP. On January 19, 1915, he was named Pope Benedict XV. Bishop of Saint Cloud. The inauguration took place on 21 February of the same year.
