Joseph Romain-Desfossés

Joseph Romain- Desfossés ( born December 8, 1798 in Gouesnou, Finistère, † October 26th 1864 in Paris) was a French admiral and Navy Minister.

Desfossés 1830 captain and brought in 1844 a friendship and trade treaty between France and Muscat concluded. In addition, he established in 1846 to trade on the coast of East Africa. After the February Revolution of 1848 Desfossés was Rear Admiral and was dated 31 October 1849 to the January 10, 1851 Secretary of the Navy.

1853 Desfossés was promoted to Vice Admiral and became a member of the Admiralty Board. In 1854 he took over the Presidency of the Council for marine structures and in 1855 Senator.

After Desfossés had bombarded by the Moroccans in November 1859 as commander of the French Mediterranean fleet, the forts of Tetuan for an insult to the French flag, he became Admiral in 1860.
