Joseph von Blumenthal

Joseph von Blumenthal ( born November 1, 1782 Brussels, † May 9, 1850 in Vienna ) was an Austrian violinist, violist and composer.

Life

Blumenthal studied in Prague with Abbé Vogler, who took him to Vienna in 1803 and helped him to a position as violist, violinist and composer in the orchestra of the Theater an der Wieden. From 1842 to 1844 Blumenthal choral conductor at the Vienna Piaristenkirche. In addition, he held in his private apartment lectures in harmony.

Blumenthal's younger brothers Casimir and Leopold were also musicians and students of Abbé Vogler.
