Josh Groban

Josh Groban ( born February 27, 1981 in Los Angeles ) is an American singer with a classically trained baritone voice.

Biography

First Groban sang in the school choir, but after they had recognized his talent, he was inducted into the prestigious Interlochen Arts Program, where he participated in various school plays. After finishing school he studied at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.

Career

In 1998, music producer David Foster looking for a singer for the inauguration ceremony of the Governor of California; Groban sent him a demo tape and was hired. A year later, Andrea Bocelli fell for his samples at the Grammy Awards from, Groban stepped in and sang a duet with Celine Dion. In 2000, Groban was given a guest role in the television series Ally McBeal, 2002, he sang along with Charlotte Church at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City the song The Prayer, moreover, he stepped on Broadway and in 2004 the opening act of the Super Bowl final on. In May 2008, he starred in the musical " Chess in Concert " at the Royal Albert Hall in London as Anatoly Sergievsky alongside Idina Menzel and earned a standing ovation for his rendition of " Anthem". A little later he joined the celebration Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday with many other world-renowned artists in Hyde Park in London.

Groban's musical spectrum reaches from classical to pop, he sings in English, Italian, Spanish and French. His debut album, " Josh Groban " sold in the United States over 4,000,000 times and received 4x platinum. His second studio album " Closer" this brand even improved and sold in the U.S. so far over 5,000,000 times. His live album " Live at the Greek " made it to over 500,000 copies sold in the United States. His published in 2006 studio album Awake sold in the U.S. almost 2,000,000 times and is one of the most successful albums that were released in 2006. In 2007, he released his Christmas album " Noel ". The album sold after 3 weeks in the USA more than 1,000,000 times and thus joins the list of the few Christmas albums, which could exceed this mark. With about 12 million albums sold in the U.S. Groban is one of the most successful male solo artists of the decade in the United States. His worldwide reception, however, is somewhat more subdued.

Josh Groban has also on the soundtracks of the films AI ( For Always duet with Lara Fabian ), Troy ( Remember duet with Tanya Tzarovska ) and The Polar Express ( Believe) cooperated. In November 2010, his album Illuminations has been published.

Social Commitment

Not least due to the influence of his mentor David Foster sang Groban again at charity events such as the "Concert of Hope" for the tsunami victims or Live 8 After a trip to Nelson Mandela in South Africa, the lasting impression on him, he founded in 2004 the Josh Groban Foundation, which supports children in need. Since 7 July 2011, the Josh Groban Foundation has a new name "Find Your Light Foundation " and its own website. By renaming and restructuring the content to the target, are used for the donations, move more clearly into the foreground. Children and young people should be allowed to receive instruction and training opportunities in the field of the performing arts as well as in the musical field. The Foundation supports appropriate schools and training centers.
