Juan Bautista Topete

Juan Bautista Topete y Carballo ( born May 24, 1821 in Tlacotalpa / Yucatán, † October 31, 1885 in Madrid) was a Spanish admiral and politician.

Topete y Carballo came in 1835 in the Navy. He commanded in 1860 in the war against Morocco, the Spanish fleet, then distinguished himself in the war against Peru, in 1867 Rear Admiral and Port Captain of Cadiz and participated in the revolution of September 1868.

On his ship Zaragoza the flag of revolt was first hoisted. He was appointed as Secretary of the Navy member of the provisional government on 8 October 1868.
