Juan Díaz (boxer)

Juan Díaz ( born September 17, 1983 in Houston, Texas, USA ) is a Mexican / American professional boxer in the lightweight.

Amateur

Díaz had a record of 105-5 as an amateur. He won the Mexican Olympic excretion in 2000, but was not allowed to go to Sydney because of his age of only 16 years.

Professional

Still in 2000, he became a professional boxer. First, he punched in the light welterweight, after having been Precipitation he punched a class lower in the lightweight on. In 2004, he won against the Mongols Lakva Sim for the WBA world title this class and defended him in the sequence six times, including against Jose Miguel Cotto ( brother of Miguel Cotto ).

On 28 April 2007 he met in a title unification fight at the Brazilian WBO titlist Acelino Freitas ( 38-1 Record ). Díaz won by giving up his opponent before the start of the eighth round. This victory underscored Diaz's reputation as at this time the best lightweight in the world. On 13 October 2007 he won the third World Champion title when he Julio Díaz (balance sheet 34-3 ) defeated the IBF titleholder by TKO in the ninth round.

Then, another unification fight with WBC champion David Diaz was talking, but could not be realized. Juan Díaz argued instead on March 8 at a mandatory defense against Nate Campbell. He lost the duel in Cancún, Mexico as a complete surprise on points against the 36 -year-old Americans.
