Juan Miguel Zubiri

Juan Miguel " Migz " Zubiri Fernandez ( born April 13, 1969 in Makati City ) is a Filipino politician.

After attending elementary school and high school at the Colegio de San Agustin son of Representatives and the Governor of the province of Bukidnon, Jose Maria Zubiri In 1986, a study of agricultural economics at the University of the Philippines ( UP) in Los Baños and graduated studies in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science (BS agribusiness ) from.

After his father in 1998 not again ran for the House of Representatives and was elected Governor of Bukidnon, Juan Miguel Zubiri followed him as a member of the House of Representatives and represented in this three legislatures to 2007, the third constituency Bukidnons. Successor as deputy was his older brother Jose Zubiri III.

Subsequently, he was in the elections of 14 May 2007 as the candidate of Lakas - Christian Muslim Democrats elected ( Lakas -CMD ) for a six-year election time as a member of the Senate, where he nearly won the last of the twelve vacant Senate seats. On 17 November 2008 he was appointed by then the youngest politician in the history of the Philippines as Majority Floor Leader leader of the majority party in the Senate and held this office until 30 June 2010.

In the current Senate of the 15th Congress, he is the chairman of the committees on cooperatives as well as for environmental and natural resources

Zubiri was involved in addition to numerous other organizations and is among other things, former president of the Rangers Association of UP, the Amateur Boxing Association (ABAP ) and the Paglaum Foundation.
