Juazeiro is a Brazilian city in the state of Bahia with 240 627 inhabitants ( 2008).

The city is located on the south side of the river São Francisco River opposite the equally large city of Petrolina, Pernambuco state. It is divided into eight districts: Abóbora, Carnaíba do Sertão, Itamotinga, Juazeiro, Junco, Juremal, Massaroca and Pinhões.
