Jules Baillaud

Jules Baillaud ( born January 14, 1876 in Paris, † November 28, 1960 ) was a French astronomer.

From 1900 to 1904 he was an assistant in Lyon, 1904-1925 assistant at the Paris Observatory, where he worked as an astronomer from 1925 to 1947. From 1937 to 1947 he was Director of the Observatory Pic du Midi and from 1922 to 1947 director of the Carte du Ciel.

In 1938 he was awarded the Jules Janssen Award. The asteroid (1280 ) Baillauda is named in his honor, during the lunar crater Baillaud and the asteroid ( 11764 ) Benbaillaud are dedicated to his father Benjamin Baillaud.
