Jules Furthman

Furthman Jules ( born March 5, 1888 in Chicago, Illinois, † September 22, 1966 in Oxford, England, United Kingdom) was an American screenwriter.

Life

Jules Furthman worked after studying literature as a journalist and wrote from 1915 first exposés and 1918 scenarios for the silent film. He soon had a reputation as a writer and worked regularly with the directors Maurice Tourneur, Victor Fleming and Josef von Sternberg together. In the early 50s his style was no longer in demand and he could only record with Rio Bravo a late success. He was married to Joan of mountains.
