Julia Pitera

Julia Teresa Pitera, born Zakrzewska, ( born May 26, 1953 in Warsaw) is a Polish politician, Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ) and since 2007 Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland.

Life and political activity

She attended the general education school Bolesław the Brave ( Liceum Ogólnokształcące in. Bolesława Chrobrego ) in Warsaw and studied at the University of Warsaw. There, Julia Pitera graduated in 1977 with a master's degree in Polish Philology. During her studies she worked as a teacher at the Warsaw Polish Dabrowski High School. In 1981, she began as a staff member for the documentation of modern literature at the Instytut Badań Literackich (Institute of Literary Research ) of the Polish Academy of Sciences ( PAN). At the Academy was Julia Pitera 1989 their diploma as an employee for the scientific documentation at the institute she remained until after the political reforms in Poland and the beginning of the Third Polish Republic.

1991 was Julia Pitera assistant in the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland and remained there until 1994. In 1994 she became head of the television program pytania o Polskę, which was shown weekly at TVP2. By his own admission she was not politically active until 1994. She had become a 1981 member of Solidarity, 1990-1991 Member of the Porozumienie Centrum (Centre Alliance) and from 1994 to 1998, Unia Polityki Realnej (Union for realpolitik ). With the latter, it was 1994 member of the Warsaw City Council.
