Julio César Chávez, Jr.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ( born February 16, 1986, Culiacan, Sinaloa as Julio César Chávez Carrasco ) is a Mexican professional boxer and former WBC champion at middleweight.
His father is former professional boxer, and multiple world champion Julio César Chávez senior.
Boxing career
As an amateur boxer, he played only two in the Mexican televised fights against Jorge Paez Jr., the son of former boxing world champion Jorge Paez senior.
On 26 September 2003 his professional career began with a unanimous points victory over Jonathan Hernández. He had his first major enemy on 28 February 2004; he defeated the later Irish Champion Oisin Fagan by unanimous points victory. In his 24th fight on 16 December 2005, he reached his so far the only draw against his compatriot and eventual IBF champion Carlos Amado Molina. This he defeated but in the rematch on points.
On August 19, 2006, he became the new Junior World Champion of the WBC light middleweight, as he gave the Americans Jermaine White by technical knockout defeated in the fourth round. On December 16, 2006, a unanimous points victory against the eventual Mexican champion Cristian Solano, and December 1, 2007 followed by a knockout win in round 6 over former WBC Junior World Champion Ray Sanchez.
On 9 February 2008, he won the American Continent title of WBC light middleweight technical knockout in the 8th round of Jose Celaya and defended the title on April 26 by KO in the 9th round against the Italian champions Tobia Loriga. On 28 March 2009, the Latino title of the WBC followed by a unanimous points victory over the undefeated ( 23-0 ) Argentine Luciano Cuello. In the title defense on September 12, he won by technical knockout in round 1 on the British Jason LeHoullier.
His fight against the Americans Troy Rowland on 14 November 2009 remained without judgment, because after the fight with Chavez an illegal substance was detected for weight gaining. The fight itself he had won unanimously and clearly on points. On 26 June 2010, he secured the silver title of the WBC middleweight, by a unanimous points win over John Duddy and defended him 29 January 2011 by a unanimous points victory over former world title challenger Billy Lyell.
4 June 2011 Chavez finally got after 44 professional fights in which he remained unbeaten, a chance for the world championship title of the WBC boxing. Reason for the late first world title chance were, inter alia, the fairly safe selection of its most internationally unknown opponents. In the world championship fight him in 30 professional fights undefeated, reigning WBC world middleweight champion, the German Sebastian Zbik faced. This had a fight get the championship belt after the title holder Sergio Gabriel Martínez did not compete for the title defense. Zbik thus denied his first title defense against Chávez. Julio Chávez finally won the fight convincingly on points and became the new WBC champion at middleweight.
On November 19, 2011, he defended his title for the first time against Peter Manfredo Jr. ( 37-6 ) and won by TKO in round 5 In February 2012, he also defended the title by unanimous decision against Marco Antonio Rubio ( 53-3 ). In June 2012, he was also able to defeat prematurely from Ireland Andy Lee (28-1 ).
On September 15, 2012, he was defeated on points but the world ranking first Sergio Gabriel Martínez ( 49-2 ) had the Argentines, however. In the twelfth round on the ground In September 2013 he won unanimously against Brian Vera ( 23-6 ) and also won the rematch six months later.
