Julio César Chávez, Jr.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ( born February 16, 1986, Culiacan, Sinaloa as Julio César Chávez Carrasco ) is a Mexican professional boxer and former WBC champion at middleweight.

His father is former professional boxer, and multiple world champion Julio César Chávez senior.

Boxing career

As an amateur boxer, he played only two in the Mexican televised fights against Jorge Paez Jr., the son of former boxing world champion Jorge Paez senior.

On 26 September 2003 his professional career began with a unanimous points victory over Jonathan Hernández. He had his first major enemy on 28 February 2004; he defeated the later Irish Champion Oisin Fagan by unanimous points victory. In his 24th fight on 16 December 2005, he reached his so far the only draw against his compatriot and eventual IBF champion Carlos Amado Molina. This he defeated but in the rematch on points.

On August 19, 2006, he became the new Junior World Champion of the WBC light middleweight, as he gave the Americans Jermaine White by technical knockout defeated in the fourth round. On 9 February 2008, he won the American Continent title of WBC light middleweight technical knockout in the 8th round of Jose Celaya and defended the title on April 26 by KO in the 9th round against the Italian champions Tobia Loriga. On 28 March 2009, the Latino title of the WBC followed by a unanimous points victory over the undefeated ( 23-0 ) Argentine Luciano Cuello. In the title defense on September 12, he won by technical knockout in round 1 on the British Jason LeHoullier.
