Julius Caesar (judge)

Sir Julius Caesar Aldemare (* 1557 in Middlesex, Tottenham, † April 18, 1636 in London) was an English judge and royal government official.

Life

Caesar comes from an Italian noble family ( dukes of Cesarini ), his father was a court physician at the British queens, Mary I and Elizabeth I Tudor. Caesar attended Magdalen College, Oxford and studied law at the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1583 he was district judge at Oxford and in Reigate, Bletchingley and Windsor he belonged to the House of Commons on. Later he became a judge of the Admiralty Court ( 1584) and Treasurer of the Inner Temple ( 1593). In 1603 he was knighted by King James I and became the Chancellor of the Exchequer (English Chancellor of the Exchequer ). In 1614 he was elected to the office of Master of the Rolls, which he held until his death.

His manuscripts were sold in 1757 for a sum of £ 500; Today you can view them in the British Museum in London.
