Jumeirah Lake Towers

Jumeirah Lake Towers ( JLT ) is a large construction project in Jumeirah Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is a 2.7 -kilometer-long strip of land of 135 hectares directly south of the new Dubai Marina and north of the housing estates Jumeirah Islands and Emirates Hills between the junctions 5 and 6 of Sheikh Zayed Road.

History

Planned and largely since 2005, under construction, in the spring of 2011, some already completed are 79 high-rise buildings, which were arranged as residential and office high-rises, as well as for retail stores in 23 Hausklustern to three or four houses. Cluster formation was chosen so that at the extremely high density of the objects, the individual houses can be better identified. The name " Lake Towers " is obvious, because the entire area in the middle of three large and several small artificial lakes is crossed, the - on average 100 m wide and 3 m deep the - covering a total of 25.5 hectares. The center of the scale with elaborate gardens complex is lifted on a small island by the 360 m high Almas Tower. The remaining high-rise buildings have between 35 and 45 floors, ie they are about 130-200 m high.

After the scheduled completion of the high-density neighborhood around 2014 once should be around 60,000 people live in the Jumeirah Lake Towers and another 110,000 people will be working at full occupancy there. The public transport system is supported since the spring of 2010 by two stops of the new Dubai Metro. Determination was that the previous annular construction roads also be used after completion of the quarter in January 2009. This means that it is north and south each give only one direction to avoid costly overpasses and Ausfädelungen. Disadvantage, however, that this result for motor vehicles multipath of one to two kilometers to get back to the crossroads 5 or 6.

The infrastructure of this quarter next to a smaller shopping center, children's play areas, a mosque, a fire station and a civil office in particular synergies with the facilities of the north bordering Dubai Marina are planned. Jumeirah Lakes Towers is the first " mixed-use free zone" in Dubai, ie there will be a model in a free trade zone both apartments and offices. The highest of the 79 high-rise buildings, the Almas Tower, houses the Dubai Diamond Exchange and the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, where a center for trade in gold, diamonds, oil, gas and other raw materials is provided.

Completion of the Jumeirah Lakes Towers

In December 2006, the Saba Tower opened as the first high-rise building. In April 2011, 80 % of high-rise buildings in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers were completed. It is planned to complete the project by the end of 2012.

Cluster

The Jumeirah Lake Towers were built in the so-called clusters. There are 26 clusters that were named from A to Z. In each cluster, there are three high-rise buildings.

Fire of Tamweel Tower

On the night of 18 November 2012, is the Tamweel Tower, which is located in cluster U3, burned out. The fire broke 01:30 local time on the roof of the 34 - story building. By falling on the balconies debris, the fire spread out over the entire building. All residents could, in part, still in pajamas, be evacuated in time, nobody was hurt. The fire was extinguished after eight hours. The police blaming a cigarette for the fire. You should have been disposed of in a trash can, which then caught fire. The skyscraper is being renovated.

Hotel Bonnigton

The Bonnington is a 41 - story hotel on the eastern edge of the Jumeirah Lake Towers. The Irish -led 5 -star hotel was established in 2005 - built in 2008. It is 150 meters high, has 41 floors, six lifts and houses 272 suites, five restaurants and bars as well as four conference halls. In the vicinity, there is a metro station, the Sheikh Zayed Road and the Almas Tower.

Freeze

Jumeirah Lake Towers to be predominantly debt-financed project suffers greatly from the effects of the global financial crisis. Since early 2009, almost all construction work is set in the grounds, are affected about half of all objects, while the already completed northern half suffers difficult rentability of the time ( early 2011 ). It is best if assumed that the original date ideas will postpone by at least four years.
