Jung Sung-ryong

Jung Sung - ryong ( born January 4, 1985 in Jeju -si, South Korea) is South Korean footballer. He currently plays for Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma.

Career

Jung Sung - ryong, whose nickname is The Giant, his professional career began in 2003 at the Pohang Steelers, where he had but to wait three years for his debut in the first team. After he came in the following season in 16 games for use, he won the championship with the team. After moving to Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma in 2008, Jung finally established as the number one. In the 34 games his first season at the new club he allowed only 29 goals. In the 2009 season, there were 41 goals in 36 games.

Jung was 2008 goalkeeper of the U- 23 side of his country at the Olympic Games. Jung wrote a piece of football history when he scored the first South Korean goalkeeper an international goal. It was in a friendly game of U -23 against the Ivory Coast on July 27, 2008 in Suwon, as he promoted a free-kick from 85 meters into the opponent's net. His first senior international game he played against Chile in January 2008, when South Korean goalkeeper Lee Woon- jae had to serve a suspension. In that game, which was also the first under new coach Huh Jung- moo, the goalkeeper was one of seven debutants. As a result, Jung Sung - ryong was in seven qualifying matches for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa between the posts and cashed while only three goals. When the Suspensierung of goalkeeper Lee was over, Jung had, however, again take place on the bench. In summer 2010 he was in his country's World Cup squad and played in all four games for South Korea, which penetrated into knockout round.

In 2012 he was in the squad for the Olympic Games. In the first four games he was used, but was injured in the quarter finals against Great Britain, so it had to be replaced and could not take part in the semifinals. However, in the 3rd place match, he was back in goal and won with his team the bronze medal, the first medal for South Korean football player.
