Jürgen Lehnert

Jürgen Lehnert ( born November 2, 1954 in Magdeburg ) is a former German canoeist who won a bronze medal for the German Democratic Republic at the 1976 Olympic Games.

Lehnert's parents were at BSG Lok Magdeburg decades youth coach in Canoeing. Her son won four times from 1968 to 1971 at the Spartakiade. Jürgen Lehnert moved early to competitive sports club SC Magdeburg. His first medal at senior level, he won at the Canoe World Championships 1973 in Tampere, when he fought together with Norbert Paschke, Peter Korsch and Harald Marg the bronze medal in the four-man kayak behind the boats from Hungary and the Soviet Union. The following year, Herbert Laabs, Ulrich Hellige, Jürgen Lehnert and Bernd Duvigneau won at the World Championships in Mexico City. In 1976, he won the East German championship and qualified for the Olympic team. At the Olympic canoeing competitions in Montreal in 1976, the Soviet quad before the Spanish boat, Frank -Peter Bishop, Bernd Duvigneau, Rüdiger Helm and Jürgen Lehnert won received the bronze medal.

In 1974 he was awarded for his sporting achievements the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

After his sporting career Jürgen Lehnert worked as a canoe coach at SC Magdeburg. After the turn he was taxi entrepreneurs. He is also an honorary capacity in the WSV Lok Magdeburg and Canoe National Association of Saxony- Anhalt.
