Jürgen Zopp

Jürgen Zopp ( born March 29, 1988 in Tallinn) is an Estonian tennis player.

Life and career

Zopp celebrated his first title on the Challenger Tour in February 2012. In Kazan, he sat down in two sets against Marius Copil by what in the meantime promoted him at No. 121 in the world rankings. His Grand Slam debut in 2012, he celebrated at the Australian Open, when he failed to qualify for the main draw for the first time. However, in the first round he defeated James Duckworth smooth in three sets. At the tournament in Bucharest 2012, Zopp again qualified for the main draw of a tournament of the ATP World Tour and met in the first round of the Romanians Victor Crivoi. With 6:3, 6:3 Zopp kept the upper hand, thus securing his first victory in a main draw on the World Tour. However, in the subsequent round against German qualifier Daniel Brands he missed the quarter-finals and clearly defeated in straight sets. At the Grand Slam tournaments at Roland Garros and Wimbledon Zopp be qualified as in Melbourne for the main draw, but failed each in the opening game. Båstad he reached the quarter-finals for the first time then a tournament of the World Tour. At the U.S. Open Zopp was due to his world ranking place for the first time directly in the main draw of a Grand Slam. With a 3-1 victory over Denis Istomin, who was just 50 pitches before Zopp in the world rankings, he also drew for the first time in the second round of a Slam.

Since 2006 Zopp plays for the Estonian Davis Cup team.
