Kaire Leibak

Kaire Leibak (born 21 May 1988 in Tartu) is an Estonian athlete.

Sporting career

2005 Leibak took part in the World Youth Championships in Marrakech. There she won the silver medal in the triple jump and finished third in the long jump to seventh place.

A year later she won at the Junior World Championships in Beijing, the gold medal in the triple jump. In this competition, she jumped 14.43 meters with Estonian national record. Also in the European Junior Championships in Hengelo 2007 she won the gold medal. This year they played as part of the IAAF Super Grand Prix also their first international competition at senior level. When Athlétissima in Lausanne, she was eighth and the Herculis Monaco Seventh.

During her first major international competition, the World Indoor Championships 2008 in Valencia, Spain Leibak could reach with a weak performance of 13.32 m only the 17th place in their qualifying group and thus do not qualify for the final of the twelve best athletes. She succeeded but a few months later at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. With a width of 14.13 m, the 20 -year-old athlete finished in tenth place in the Olympic triple jump final. At the European Indoor Championships 2009 in Turin Leibak missed with 13.99 meters the final competition. With a season best of 14.20 meters, she qualified for the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, however, had to cancel it due to an injury in the short term.
