Kakuei Tanaka

Kakuei Tanaka (Japanese田中 角 荣; born May 4, 1918 in Kashiwazaki, † 16 December 1993) was an influential Japanese politicians.

Tanaka was July 7, 1972 to December 9, 1974, the 64th and 65th Prime Minister of Japan. At the same time he was also after his resignation of the most influential politicians of the ruling LDP.

Tanaka was forced to resign because of opaque real estate business, which he had arranged in the 60s in Tokyo with the help of a Geisha. In 1976 he was implicated in the Lockheed scandal, since he had received from the U.S. aircraft manufacturer Lockheed bribes in the amount of 3 million U.S. dollars.

His daughter Makiko 's deputies and was Foreign Minister under Koizumi Jun'ichirô. His in-law and adoptive son Naoki is also deputy.
