Kalajoki River

The Kalajoki ( Finnish for " Fish River " ) is a river in the Finnish countryside Nordoesterbotten.

The 130 km long river has its source in the lake Reisjärvi in the homonymous municipality Reisjärvi. From there it flows first a short distance to the north- east to Haapajärvi. Then he turns to the northwest and passes through the towns of Nivala Ylivieska and Alavieska before it opens at Kalajoki in the Gulf of Bothnia. The catchment area of ​​Kalajoki extends over 4247 km ².
