Kaleen, Australian Capital Territory

Kaleen is a district of the district of Belconnen Australian capital Canberra. The district with the postal code 2617 is named after the name for water in the language of Wiradhuri - Aboriginal people. Most of the streets were named after Australian rivers.

The adjacent suburbs are Lyneham, Giralang, Lawson and Bruce. Kaleen is limited both by the Baldwin Drive and from Ginninderra Drive. There are several sports fields, where sports like football, cricket and rugby to be played. Quite uncommon for a district of Canberra is the fact that there are two small shopping centers in Kaleen, both of which are on the main road, the Maribyrnong Avenue. In addition, a larger shopping center near the border with Giralang on Georgina Crescent which is surrounded on three sides by religious buildings, including a Greek Orthodox, Coptic and Anglican Church, St. Simons Kaleen. The suburb also has two government-operated primary schools, Maribyrnong Primary School and Kaleen Primary School. There is also the Kaleen High School on Baldwin Drive.

As in Canberra mostly the case, there is a network of well-maintained cycle paths. The most important results under the Ginninderra Drive and through the center of the neighborhood in north-south direction to the neighboring district Giralang.
