Kalná nad Hronom

Kalná nad Hronom (Hungarian Kalna ) is a municipality in southern Slovakia. It lies in the Danubian Lowland in the Hron River, about 8 km from Levice and about 35 km from Nitra away.

The municipality was created in 1960 as Kalna nad Hronom by merging Kalná (then Kalna, 1208 was first mentioned in writing) and Kalnica (then Kálnica ). It has about 2070 inhabitants, of whom 76.07 % Slovak, 16.16% and 5.05% of Roman Hungarian descent ( 2001).

In 1990 the until then independent municipality Mochovce was incorporated.
