Kalonzo Musyoka

Kalonzo Stephen Musyoka ( born December 24, 1953 at the village Tseikuru, Eastern Province ) was a politician of the Kenya African National Union (KANU ) of Kenyan Foreign Minister from 1993 to 1998, then Education and Minister of Tourism and from December 2007 to April 2013 Vice- President of his country.

In the conflict over the nomination of Uhuru Kenyatta as the successor of President Daniel arap Moi himself Musyoka separated before the election in 2002 of KANU and joined with other KANU rebels of the Liberal Democratic Party, which then together with the Democratic Party (DP) and several smaller parties, the opposition alliance of the National Rainbow Coalition reasoned that Mwai Kibaki ( DP) aufstellte as a presidential candidate and emerged from elections in 2002 as the winner.

In the first Kibaki government Musyoka again took over the Foreign Ministry. The first coalition squabbles had in 2004 a reshuffle resulted in him the less influential Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has been transferred.

After the constitutional referendum in 2005, he lost his government post and went with the deputies of the LDP in the opposition. Here he worked with at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM ) structure, which is then split before the 2007 election.

Musyoka led the smaller of the two products resulting from the cleavage groupings with the ODM - Kenya and was nominated by her to the presidential candidates. He received almost 10% of the vote.

His party won 15 seats in the parliamentary elections, including 13 of the 17 seats of the Kambalandes, making the ODM - Kenya to an important regional party.

Kalonzo is the owner of the hotel complex " Mwingi Cottage Hotel " in the district of Mwingi.
