Kamal Hossain

Kamal Hossain ( Bangla: কামাল হোসেন ) ( born April 20, 1937 in Calcutta) is a Bengali lawyer and politician who was instrumental in the development of the Constitution of Bangladesh.

After studying law at the University of Oxford, the Hossain graduated in 1958, he was in 1959 called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn and the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In 1972 he was chairman of the Committee for the development of an independent constitution of Bangladesh. In the same year he became a member of the government of his home country, first as a Justice and later as Secretary of State. He was a member of various arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce and UNCITRAL. Hossain 2003 was named by the Bengal government in a dispute with Singapore to the border demarcation in the Bay of Johor as an ad hoc judge at the International Tribunal.

Hossain since 2001 Vice- President of the International Law Association.
