Kamenica (Aleksinac)

Kamenica (Serbian Cyrillic: Каменица ) is a village in eastern Serbia. Since there are several places with the name of Kamenica in the countries of former Yugoslavia, the village also Aleksinačka Kamenica is called.

Geography and population

The village lies in the Opština Aleksinac in Nišavski okrug in the east to 513 meters above sea level. Kamenica had at the 2011 census 70 inhabitants, while there were 103 in 2002. After the last three population statistics, the population continues to fall.

The population of Kamenica represent 99% of Serbian Orthodox Serbs. One person gave to an unknown origin that corresponds to 1 % of the population. The village consists of 36 households. The village is situated south-west of the capital town Aleksinac.

The village is surrounded by forests and mountains, not far from neighboring villages Jakovlje, Loznac and Kulina away.

In Kamenica is the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Holy Archdeacon Stefan and Erstmärtyrer. The church belongs to the Eparchy of Niš, the Serbian Orthodox Church.
