Kamienica, Opole Voivodeship

Kamienica ( German Kamitz, Grenztal 1936-45 ) is a town in the municipality Paczków in Poland. It is located in ( powiat Nyski ( circle Neisse ) in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

The village is a few kilometers away from Paczków and extends 4.5 km along the Kamitzbaches in a southwesterly direction to Bila Voda and thus to the Czech border and Reichensteiner mountains towards. It is 250 to 300 m above sea level and is a typical Waldhufendorf of the 13th century.

History

It was in the 13th century in the possession of Wrocław bishop and was settled as a village on the outskirts of Patschkau by German colonists. The church of the village was first mentioned in documents in 1326. The knightly Scholtisei belonged in the 14th century, the Patsch Kauer Runge family. In the Thirty Years' War, the town was almost completely destroyed. Kamitz was renamed in 1936 in Grenztal.

The Catholic Church ( patronal feast of St. George ) was first documented in 1326. The present church dates from the year 1914. Was not until the year 1851, the place became a separate parish. A parish clerk, who certainly also held school, was first mentioned in 1666, the old school house dates from 1845, the new four classes was built in 1938.

1973 the following companies were in Kamitz located: In the village there were two bakers, a construction, an electrician, two bicycle acts, two butchers, two inns, seven general stores, two mills, two blacksmiths, two tailors, six shoemakers, three wheelwrights, three carpenters, a livestock action, a cooperative electricity and a savings and loan association.
