Kamperlijntje

The railway line Zwolle - Kampen, also Kamperlijntje ( Small Kamper line) is a twelve- kilometer-long railway line between Zwolle and Kampen without intermediate stops. It is a section of the railway line Utrecht - Kampen ( Centraalspoorweg ) and operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. As of 2012, it is to be electrified, so that it can be operated with trams.

History

The track was originally created as part of the Centraalspoorwegs from Utrecht to Amersfoort and Zwolle Kampen on. The portion of Utrecht Amersfoort Hattem was opened in 1863, a year later the connection Hattem - Zwolle with bridging the IJssel. The distance between Zwolle and Kampen could only be put into operation in 1865, as the Mastenbroekerpolder had run full of water.

The costs were borne by the NCS, a private company, which later became the Nederlandse Spoorwegen and the municipality of Kampen. The contribution of the municipality of Kampen was around 300,000 guilders. This large sum covered about half of the total investment, but Kampen got the commitment that all trains from Utrecht would follow through to Kampen. As regards the interpretation of the station in Zwolle, the direction of travel had to be changed ( " head Do " ), but the line was split into two parts: Kampen - Zwolle -Utrecht and Zwolle. 1930 drove around 50 trains daily between Kampen and Zwolle. This separation was final, while the distance to Kampen was operated with diesel locomotives by the electrification of the Utrecht Zwolle.

Stops

The train runs from Zwolle Station, by track 1 in Kampen station he stops at the old station building on a semi-covered platform. The second platform is just like the historic concourse not used anymore. Formerly, the train also stops at the Zwolle Veerallee and Mastenbroek, but they were closed in 1970 and 1933 respectively. The travel time for the twelve -kilometer route is about ten minutes.

Future

On the future of Kamperlijntje is much discussed. Since the closure of the School of Journalism and the Academy of Arts in Kampen, the line is no longer used as much by students. If the Hanzelijn, an intercity line between Lelystad and Zwolle Kampen Zuid with a train station, will open on December 9, 2012, ridership may further decrease. The municipality of Zwolle want the line but extend to two stops: Station Zwolle Voorsterpoort at an industrial site and station Zwolle Stadshagen in a new residential area. Also talked about a second stop in Kampen, Kampen Oosterholt in a new neighborhood near IJsselmuiden. The connection should then be traversed with city or trams. A 20 -minute intervals is desired. The contract with the Nederlandse Spoorwegen, the Dutch State Railways, expires on December 8, 2012. Currently still searching for a new operator.
