Kangshung Glacier

The Kangshung glacier is beside the Khumbu Glacier and the Rongbuk glacier one of the three main glaciers of Mount Everest, their accumulation areas are located at the three large walls of Everest. He is with a length of about 17 km the longest of the three glaciers. The Kangshung glacier located on the east side of the highest mountain of the earth in the administrative district of Shigatse in Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.

The east face of Everest and Lhotse common named Kangshung wall. Here nourishes the Kangshung Glacier and flows through the Kangshung valley to the east. The outflow of the glacier, the Karma Chu, empties into the Arun or Bum Chu, a tributary of the Koshi.

The east side of Mount Everest is the least accessible and developped side of the mountain. While you can reach the base camp at Rongbuk glacier terrain vehicle, the multi-day hike to the south side of Everest fortified lodges for overnight stay are available, the Kangshung Glacier is best achieved through a multi-day march, which includes a pass crossing.
